Fractals are mathematical structures having the striking quality of infinite self- similarity. Fractal structures can be used to describe order and chaos as well as creative processes in arts and nature. In the so called Serial Period starting in the 1950ies music was composed by using numbers for the first time. The development of computer technology and sound production has made it possible now for nearly everybody to produce and realize complex music. A computer program like Op.tosys creates specific self-generating numerical structures and converts these automatically into sound leading to what is called „Raw Music“.
